Walk for Water
Walk for Water 2019
Did you know women and children walk an average of 3 miles or 5 kilometers daily to collect water? Often this water is contaminated.
Walk for Water exists to raise awareness on the worldwide lack of access to clean water by simulating the walk that women and children take daily to collect water. Funds raised benefit Clean Water for the World who provides water purification units at no costs to communities in developing countries.
Walk for Water
Imagine — a 5k Walk / Run + Jugs of Water = Tons of Fun!
Water Carrying
Walkers are encouraged to carry jugs filled with water during the 5K. This is to simulate the work women and children in developing countries do every day to obtain water. Pre-filled water jugs will be provided.
A water carrying competition will take place during the walk. Participants can carry as much water as possible using whichever methods they choose. The winners will be decided by the greatest volume of water carried per team member. NO BACKPACKS AND NO WHEELS.
Where is it held?
Since 2011, Walk for Water has been held in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Toledo, Ohio.
