Many materials published to promote sanitation habits and drinking clean water are in dominant languages, i.e. English, Spanish, French, etc. However, those who need it the most do not speak dominant languages. In Guatemala, there are 23 Mayan dialects where a majority of the women do not speak Spanish and the children speak very little Spanish.
Translating the materials (signs, workbooks, workshop materials, etc.) into the local languages help create more access to information and reinforces the idea of drinking clean water every time.
